Ayurvedic medicine (also called Ayurveda) is one of the world’s oldest medical systems. It originated in India and has evolved there over thousands of years. In the United States, Ayurvedic medicine is considered a complementary health approach. Many products and practices used in Ayurvedic medicine are also used on their own as complementary approaches—for example, herbs, massage, and specialized diets.
Ayurvedic Fat Melting Tea (previously labeled Fat Flush Water)
(recipe given to my sister from her doctor)
Boil 4-5 cups of water in the morning
Add a 1/2 tsp. of each of the following seeds to the water and let steep for at least ten minutes with the lid on the teapot or pan.
- whole cumin seeds
- whole coriander seeds
- whole fennel seeds
If tea is too strong or if you experience discomfort cut back to 1/4 tsp. of each for two weeks than go back to 1/2 tsp.
How it works:
~ Improves digestion
~ Breaks down fat by changing cell metabolism and removing toxins
~ Unclogs channels in your body
~ Works independent of diet - average 10 pounds weight loss in 12 weeks
Note: I could not find all of these seeds in the super market but you probably could in most health food stores. Also, with all the hype about Turmeric reducing belly fat maybe throwing a 1/2 tsp. of Turmeric seeds into the pot wouldn't be a bad idea. (I haven't tried that but let you know next week) Turmeric is usually ground and anything you can spice up with that is a great way to help reduce belly fat.
Next Week -- Watch for my great weight loss diet appearing weekly, with a week of meal plans; plus, 3 more cleansing water recipes.
Along with - a new meditation, wine education, & other notes of interest. Best, Bryn
